Reach for the sky.

Fall is a quiet, sublime submission to time. Life is a memory of what could have been and time is a landslide. A friend tells me that we should be more intentional about life. I think that he means that I shouldn’t just let life happen to me. I am a very good bystander, I don’t make things happen. My cynical side says that my friend is suffering from his own illusion. Life happens to all. We can work really hard to feel like we are happening to life; we are the cause of things. Perhaps I’m wrong, but still, I think I’ll sit back and see what happens…I don’t want to miss anything.

I could be passive here, and respond to the question in your post, but I am inclined to be active instead. Your last two posts (this one included) sound like you are skirting around what you really want to say. Is something trying to happen to you? Are you avoiding happening to something?

Jeanne, there is no question in my post; it is a statement about fall and how it affects me. It is a relaxing time; it can't be fought or prevented. Fall tells us that it is time to stop, watch and listen. The grass has stopped growing, the air is thin and crisp showing the stars with more clarity so lie back and gaze.

I believe "perhaps I'm wrong, but.." qualifies as a question. It certainly starts one wondering if you are right or wrong, and considering sharing the wonderous results. And anyway, you only talked about fall for the first two sentences, at best.

Fall tells me to get busy gathering.

"Fall tells me to get busy gathering."

Perhaps you are part squirrel.
Fall tells me to grow hair and put on a fine layer of blubber...perhaps I am part grizzly bear.

you're being intentional by trying not to be intentional...even blogging
